Vidya Balan went the whole hog when she agreed to play the role of Silk in The Dirty Picture. But Milan had a hard time convincing her to accept the role. Says Vidya, “When it was offered to me, I liked the script but I realised that the role was unconventional and so was the casting. I asked Milan why he wanted to cast me for the role, but he still hasn’t answered. I thought a lot about the role and whether I should do it. Lots of people told me not to. But a few meetings with Milan made it clear to me that he did not intend to portray the film industry in a dark light, as is usual with films made about the industry. Instead, he wanted to depict the journey of a woman who makes it in the industry. Convinced, I jumped on board.”

Murder 2 – Synopsis:
Arjun (Emraan Hashmi), an ex-cop, is hired by a Goan pimp for an unofficial assignment. Several hookers have gone missing under mysterious circumstances and Arjun has to trace their whereabouts. He finds out that all the missing girls were called by the same person. When a new girl Reshma (Sulagna) is sent as bait to catch hold of the culprit, she falls prey of the serial killer. Arjun catches hold of the killer but has to get enough evidence against him.

It was a relentless contestation between South Indian actresses, especially the Kollywood gals on bagging the offer of ‘Singam’ Hindi remake. Initially talks were that Anushka, who played the female lead opposite Surya in Tamil and Telugu version, will sign the project. But on the spur of moment, the decision seems to have been changed by the makers of Hindi version as they opted for Kajal Agarwal.

The actress made her debut in Tamil film industry through Bharathiraja’s ‘Bommalattam’ and made big time with Karthi’s ‘Naan Mahaan Alla’.

Kajal Agarwal is flying on cloud nine with her Bollywood debut that will be made by filmmaker Rohit Shetty of ‘Golmaal series’ fame and Ajay Devgn in lead role.

Pro-Kannada activists from the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike had gathered in front of Tribhuvan theatre here Friday to protest what they called anti-Kannada dialogues in the Ajay Devgn-Kajal Agarwal starrer.

Tribhuvan theatre’s assistant manager Anant told IANS that the objectionable dialogues had been removed from all the prints and digital discs of the film which released Friday.

Shows were organised in the Tribhuvan theatre where a group of police officers from nearby Upparpet police station watched the film along with the activists, he said. “The pro-Kannada activists and police authorities have confirmed that there are no objectionable dialogues in the film now,” Anant said.

The police officers later sent a report to their higher authorities. The screening will now resume in 27 theatres where it was scheduled to be screened.

Karnataka Rakshana Vedike presidentNarayana Gowda told IANS Friday that one of the dialogues in the film refers to “Kannadigas as dogs”.

The film’s screening was also disrupted in Bidar, Belgaum, Gulbarga, Hubli and Kolar.

Directed by Rohit Shetty, “Singham” is the remake of a Tamil blockbuster with the same name. It has been remade in Kannada as “Kempe Gowda”.

Mallika in Hiss

Apparently, after being the first Bollywood celeb to have a cup of tea with President Obama, the ‘Love Of Politics, Barack’ star Mallika has good reasons to be on cloud nine.

Recently, when TOI caught up with Mallika Sherawat and asked her what made her the child of controversies, the bombshell was quick to defend herself by voicing that people didn’t like her as she has carved a niche for herself in the industry without making any compromises.

Reportedly, the hottie claimed that she is the face of India in Hollywood.

Mallika said, “Society celebs and the so-called blue bloods of Bollywood are the only ones who have a problem with me. I think they can’t stand the fact that I have made it without making any compromises.”

“Somehow people don’t like people who come from humble backgrounds to soar high. I’m the face of India in Hollywood like it or not,” added Sherawat.

I feel my life is same as Obama’s, says Mallika
Mallika, who became a known face in the industry after her sizzling debut in ‘Murder,’ has created a flutter in tinsel town ever since she met President Obama.

When asked how she felt on meeting Obama, the elated actress said that Obama is a gentleman and both, she and Obama have a few things in common regarding their journey to success.

Comparing herself with Obama, Mallika said, “Yes. He is a thorough gentleman ” simple and intelligent. In fact, I feel that my life is the same as Obama’s. I do not come from a filmi family, nor do I have a Godfather. I’m from Haryana, but I changed the rules of the industry with my work and so has Obama. I think we both are changing the rules of the game in our own way.”

No buyers coming forward for Mallika’s ‘Politics of Love, Barack’
While the actress is going gaga over her meeting with the American president, her forthcoming flick ‘Politics Of Love, Barack,’ which is the reason for her meeting with Obama, is not getting any attention.

No distributors are coming forward to buy Mallika’s movie, and gossip mongers are suggesting that the movie might be released via satellite.

A source revealed, “Surprisingly, even her recent meeting with Obama failed to create any buzz. “If this film fails to release, then it will be a big blow to her career in the West, as her last film Hiss was a dud too.”
